Dave is the managing director of DBS, and has a background of working in high value consultancy since the mid 1990s, working on a diverse range of projects across the UK.

He holds an honors' degree (BSc Hons) in chemistry and human biology from the University of Leicester, and a master's degree (MSc) from the University of Sunderland. Whilst working professionally in consultancy, Dave has also qualified as a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), a Chartered Waste Manager (MCIWM) and is a CL:AIRE Qualified Person under the Code of Practice scheme.

Dave started his career with Wardell Armstrong (WA), working within their ground engineering team on a range of brownfield regeneration, contaminated land, mining and minerals and wastes management projects. Dave was instrumental in introducing the new Environment Agency and Defra CLEA regime to the contaminated land work for WA when it was introduced in 2002, CLEA represented a significant policy shift in the UK on the reclamation and re-use of land at that time. Dave also worked extensively on new landfill engineering projects, the permitting of waste facilities and supervising investigation and construction works on site.

In 2006, Dave moved from WA to Amec Environment and Infrastructure Ltd (formerly Entec UK Ltd) to work within their contaminated land team. Prior to leaving Amec to form DBS in 2011, he was a team leader, a staff manager and project manager, working on a range of challenging high profile projects across the UK. Dave's specialty is the regeneration market, and he has assisted a variety of national and local developers to return complex former industrial sites to beneficial use. Dave also specialises in planning application support, environmental due diligence, site characterisation and de-risking, and supporting local authorities with their duties under Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Dave's vision for DBS was to establish a specialised team to deliver a "big consultancy" style product and support, focused on their client's needs, for a reduced cost, helping to bring value to clients projects.

When not working Dave enjoys spending time with his young family, especially taking his two sons to watch Premiership football matches. He also enjoys walking, particularly in North Yorkshire and the Lake District.

Dave comments, "consultancy work can be demanding at times, but also enjoyable and challenging, and at DBS we aim to deliver high quality responsive work at a price that does not break the bank, enabling our clients projects to be successful, this will ultimately contribute to our own success".
